(INFO) The Votivparkkino was built in 1912 opposite the Votivkirche and is among Vienna's oldest surviving cinemas. Destroyed in a bombing raid on February 10, 1945, it was subsequently rebuilt. In 1985/86 the film distributor Filmladen took over the house, dropped the 'Park' from its name and has run it as an arthouse cinema ever since. A studio screen followed in 1987 and a third auditorium in 1999.

Under Nazi rule its owner, Mrs Fix, kept the cinema independent for as long as she could before it was forced into line in 1939.
