(INFO) The Admiral Kino opened in 1913 during Vienna's cinema boom; the roughly 20-metre-long hall initially held over 280 wooden seats. The Ebner family ran it from 1926, and sound film arrived in 1931. Under Nazi rule the cinema was 'Aryanized', damaged in the war and restituted in 1951. Since 2007 Michaela Englert has carried it on as an arthouse cinema.
One of Vienna's oldest continuously operating cinemas, it commemorates its licensee Margarethe Ebner, driven out by the Nazis, with a 'Stone of Remembrance' laid in 2018.
