(INFO) Emerging from a tent cinema founded in 1905, the picture house moved in 1909 into an Art Nouveau corner building on Breitenseer Straße, fitted out as a long, narrow storefront cinema. Alterations in 1916 and 1924 and the arrival of sound in 1930 shaped its operation. In 1969 Anna Nitsch-Fitz took over and ran it as an arthouse cinema for 53 years before passing it on in 2022.

Since the Erika-Kino closed in 1999 it has been considered Vienna's oldest continuously operating cinema, and it preserves its original wooden seating.
