(INFO) The CineCenter opened in 1982 on Fleischmarkt and, with four screens, was among Vienna's first multi-screen cinemas. It was initially run by Kiba, later under changing operators. Unlike many inner-city cinemas it survived the multiplex wave of the late 1990s and today positions itself as an independent arthouse cinema focused on European film.

Part of today's cinema is said to have housed an underground roller-skating rink in the 1920s, when the building served as an amusement park.
