(INFO) In 1913 the Leopoldinum charity founded the Leopoldinum Kinotheater in a palais on the Ringstraße; from 1915 it was called the Schottenring-Kino. Part of the municipal Kiba chain after 1945, it showed ambitious films. In the 1980s the auditorium was demolished and replaced by two small basement screens. Since 2001 the Votiv Kino has run it as De France.

It was one of the few early Viennese cinemas located at street level in a grand Ringstraße palais rather than in a basement.
